Usually when we feature items from women’s plus sizes clothing brand Avenue we do it from there sister retailer OneStopPlus. But this week we fond more items that we loved that were specific to Avenue’s line. So we thought we’d feature the pieces separately this time directly from their women’s plus sizes clothing site!

PLEATED SURPLICE DRESS
An orange with flecks of white throughout makes me think of warm, happy summer-time memories filled with dreamsicles and other ice cream delights. This color is probably not a prominent feature in your wardrobe yet. But as an orange wearing enthusiast, I proclaim that having this color to wear is just as refreshing as the actual citrus itself. Also, because it’s paired with white in the pattern it isn’t too bold or overwhelming. Just sweet and charming! Dress, .99- .99.

FLORAL RIBBON DRESS
This Floral dress is similar to many items one can find at Nordstrom. A pink floral print just lives and breathes everything that a traditional springtime frock would. I love this item because it’s age-appropriate for a variety of ages. Ladies from the older crowd may be seen piling on the accessories, wearing flats, old school stockings, and the square tipped blazers. Younger ladies will keep accessories to a minimum and do colorful heels, or black pumps with this item. They may even dare to show an au-naturale leg or wear sheer nude colored nylons. To keep it youthful a nice lightweight cardigan, or bare shouldered is the way to go. An playful updo can also keep it more casual. I love when ladies where a top bun and some pearl earrings, it’s so easy chic! Also, I am so happy that the ribbon on this is removable. It lets you decide how adorable (or not, maybe you just wanna look like you are dressed to the nines) you want to be that day. Dress, .90.

LACE TANK DRESS
This dress may look exceptionally basic on the surface, and while it is on the one hand there is one clear reason to purchase this dress–it’s figure flattering qualities. A body skimming material gives this a curve hugging appeal without a too-tight fight. Lace can easily be dressed up or down to match the event you’re wearing it for. The neckline isn’t too revealing and works for a multitude of body types. Last, but not least (if you’re still not sold on buying this item) it’s on clearance for .90! And I just noticed there is only one size left~ pick it up now before it’s gone.

FLORAL CROSSOVER DRESS
Another almost sold out item. Anytime there is turquoise I find my eye is often drawn to an item. Usually they are hard to pull off pieces unless you’re actually somewhere that’s tropical. But this piece has a nice balance of strong neutrals like black and white that this piece would work rather well for any time that you want to be the center of attention. I think this item would be great for Easter, mother’s day, a birthday look, or maybe a different special event you have marked on your calendar. This item could even be great for church with a boxy cardigan thrown into the mix, or going out on the town with a skinny belt and a fun and funky blazer. Dress on clearance for .96. Only two sizes left!

BLUE FLOWER DRESS
More shades of blue. Finding one that works well with your complexion, or one that you’re comfortable in can sometimes be quite a task. Luckily, blue has been trending and we’ve seen many different hues being showcased. This muted blue tone has a very classic appeal to it. It’s simplistic, and doesn’t really call for a lot in terms of accessorizing to look fabulous. I would say a longline necklace in silver and nude toned sandals, flatter heels, or wedges work quite well. To me this piece is the jeans and t-shirt look personified in a dress. This item isn’t on sale, but it already has an affordable price. Dress, .90.

FAUX WRAP DRESS
For this floral faux wrap dress that are two color choices. While I usually gravitate towards the purple, I am actually quit enamored by the black and red print. I think it’s infinitely more youthful, modern, and a bit edgy. This timeless silhouette is given new life, with the infusion of warm 1970s hues. The micro floral print is what updates this color pallet into something smashingly refreshing. I also love the way this pieced is styled with the gold and pearl double layered necklace. Oh so lovely, professional and effortlessly sophisticated. Dress, .90.

The translation of straight size inspiration to women’s plus sizes clothing options can at times be no easy feat. Let your imagination roam wild with this collection. Step out into the world, hearts aflame. There are just those days with beautiful sunsets, where the sun almost shines too brightly. Grab some shades and get wrapped up in the magic of the moment. I love bohemian pieces to begin with, but my love was doubled after reading this months InStyle. In it the way Gwyneth Paltrow is styled she becomes my muse. It’s just kind of weird because the fashion notes are totally different on the cover. Much of her pieces are more rocker than bohemian, but by adding a leather jacket, or the right pair of leather look leggings, or even a nice studded belt you’ll capture the essence of the shoot in no time.

LACE BOHO DRESS
You’ll be a sultry sensation in this dark bohemian dress. If you enjoy edgier styles than this look is yours. The deep purple and blues mix with neutral shades black and tan to create a piece with intrigue that has a bit of a sex kitten factor. The sweeping neckline with string detail is my favorite detail, add to that strips of lace and we’ve got one original vampy look. For this look to not look too overly styled I would take it back to it’s bohemian roots by pairing with flip-flop sandals. Dress, .90.

FLUTTER-SLEEVE DRESS
In all earthy tones you’ll look like an American desert princess in this look. I especially love the styling for this look because it’s spot on: tossled beachy hair + over the knee neutral colored suede boots are the way to go. The shape of this dress is really free and the slit neckline helps open up the dress but is still rather conservative. What isn’t conservative is the amount of leg you’ll be showing! This is easily remedied with a pair of leggings, but if you’re brave enough to go without–do it! I would wear a pair of shorts underneath though. The floral embroidery near the neckline also adds to the hippy-dippy flavor with the right amount of daisy flowers. Dress, .90.

AKIRA KIMONO DRESS
Ever looked for an easy way to do color? Sometimes solid colors alone seem a bit too high-impact. Red is one of those colors that 99% of women look stunning in, but when they try on a red dress it can be too drastic of a change. It’s a rare moment where enough red is showcased along with another print in a combination that works. This is that unique gem, a veritable treasure piece that I’ve been searching for. Don’t you love it too? A dreamy piece that works for any great escape. Whether it is sipping your favorite mocha drink at a cafe or if your feet happen to be gracing the sands of some beautiful beach you’ll feel like you’re living the dream. Beauty and luxury at an affordable cost of .90.

Women’s plus sizes clothing: yesterday we gave you some ideas for seperates for this holiday. But there are ladies out there who simply aren’t fans of separates. Not trying to get those ladies to change their mind out there but I love separates because of the ability to mix and match items and rework them into any outfit they often last in one’s wardrobe much longer than their one piece counterparts. However, a good dress–well it goes without saying can be a girl’s secret weapon. Easy to slip into, comfortable, and minimal accessories are needed to look stunning in a daring dress. Also, often have the benefit that most of us are concerned about when purchasing anything that falls into the women’s plus sizes clothing category: fit. When I have separates sometimes finding two pieces that go together can be like trying to find a missing piece of the jigsaw. Do I tuck the top in, do I have it overlap my skirt? Does the length work overall??

FLORAL PARTY DRESS
If you don’t want the challenge of solving a fashion puzzle you’ll find you’re able to wear one of the most sumptuous colors this holiday, a pink infused red, quite easily. Look more vibrant than a freshly picked strawberry in this ladylike refreshing tone.. This hawaiian inspired print is a funky take on classic Valentine’s day colors. Because of this it can transition into a nice summery piece with relative ease as well. Tropical exuberance is sure to charm no matter the occasion. Dress, .

Need a little cardigan to cover up the spaghetti straps? Look no further Torrid has a perfect little gem in red seen here.

It’s no wonder this plus women’s clothing company’s catchphrase is: charming the season. It’s simply a dose of girlish delight! Their originality shines as a brand, and in their “about us” section Lucie mentions how she wants to bring a fresh point of view. A lot of their pieces have an antique/retro vibe that is very popular in the high-fashion (straight sized) world–but very rare in the plus world. She’s found a way to really merge those two worlds quite well. For plus women’s clothing that will surprise you, head on over to Lucie Lu where they encourage you to find your own personal style.

Here are a few inspirational spark pieces to start off with…

LACE PARTY DRESS
A dark cobalt blue shade brings a dramatic dress for a lovely evening to new height. This look has a retro charm and regal quality. It’s ladylike but has a coy sex appeal. You’ll be sitting pretty, as this has that Audrey Hepburn kind of style (classic American with a touch of Parisian influence). To dress this look down for everyday wear, because I’d want to wear this quite often I’d pair it with something funky and unexpected like combat boots! Or, go with the classic look–but be prepared for people to ask what event your off to looking so dressed up. (: Dress, .

VIDA DRESS
This perfect teal piece is for someone living the life. It’s time to start playing the part–are you a fortunate person? I mean think about it deeply… maybe you have a wonderful boyfriend, or you finally eased into your new job. This is for the girl who in some way knows she has arrived; maybe she realized she has the best friends that she knows she can count on. This is like your coming out cotillion dress, for the ladies who just want to look radiant. Let your inner beauty, and good aura be showcased in this crushingly cute teal dress. Have the world wonder why you look so wonderful and youthful. It almost goes without saying that this is a Mad Men kind of look. You may not be Miss Perfect, but sometimes you just feel that way. Embrace those happy moments. Dress, .

TARYN TUNIC
This is a vintage looking piece that really appeals to modern sensibilities. From the bold color print, to the tunic silhouette any fashionista who is now can see how this top will work for them. The cowl neckline is also great for plus women as it can play up your bustline without looking slutty. This dress is named Taryn Tunic Dress, and I’d thought I’d note that because the name Taryn invariably makes me think of Taryn Manning. She is far from being plus, and her style sensibilities are often more simplistic than this. Taryn Manning is a famous actress, but if you don’t follow her you probably don’t know that she is also a very talented singer for the band Boomkat. This tunic reminds me of her musical style– fresh and surprising. Go for something different that’s fun and fearless and maybe when you’re wearing it sing along to some of Boomkat’s songs. Top, .

Earlier today we’d featured a plus women’s clothing item from Curvety, guess what it was if you haven’t already seen it. I’ll give you one clue: it has a leather look. If you guessed it was a jacket, BUZZ sorry you’re wrong. It was an amazing be an amazing skirt, go to the main page to get this luxe item. But Curvety isn’t a plus women’s clothing one hit-wonder. They’ve got a bundle of amazing looks!

ARNETTE DRESS
This day dress has an urban chic vibe to it. Perfect for the girl who is no stranger to designer digs, but doesn’t do designer from head to toe. I’d leave all the designer goods to the accessories: fierce shoes, a haute necklace, and always cool shades. This dress will wear well with such a great variety of items and looks luxe and sophisticated. I love the way this look is styled in the photo–and I’d go for a similar look except since it’s winter I’d top it off with a faux fur coat. Incidentally, we posted two terrific coats (one non-faux fur option from those who stay away from furs) from Nordstrom earlier this week which can be found here. Dress, $ 76.93.

Honorable Mentions for Dress of the Week from Curvety are:

The Pop Art Princess

Fiercely Sweet

The Mod Squad

Precious Peacock (only avail in size UK 30/32)

(These dresses may not be as high-fashion, but there was something about them that I kept coming back to.)

Women’s plus sizes clothing may have already “made it” to the fashion industry, and into the hearts of many a fa(t)shionistas… but what about bringing style risks into the workplace? Do you only get dressed to the nines on the weekends or do you work it out fiercely every day? Recently one of my favorite muses for work wear Christina Hendricks (ala Joan from Mad Men) had done a spread for Harpers Bazaar. In the shoot the theme was that she was robbing a bank, and looking her usual drop dead goregeous self while doing it. But something was different, although she was shot by the iconic Terry Richardson the pictures kind of fell flat. And the strangest thing was that I actually liked them for this very reason. Christina Hendricks actually looked more human in this photo shoot. Not to say she’s robotic or an alien or anything, but she always looks so cherub-like and flawless. This time she wasn’t working the same perfect angles, and I got to see her in a whole new light. It was strange, surreal, and refreshing. It’s hard to say whether the photographer struggled because Chistina Hendricks is probably not the size of the women he usually shoots. I think this in part had to do with it, right along with the styling. 50% of the clothes just did not seem like they were made for women’s plus sizes. The clothing that really did not work for me included the very sheer lacy top, and the men’s wear shirt.

So what does a woman wear when she wants to be professionally fabulous? The other pieces like the jumpsuit, and the highwaisted skirt and sleeveless blouse really worked for me. Although they aren’t really the easiest or most functional pieces, and I understand that. So here’s my little list of Casual Dresses that could also double as Career wear.

BELTED DRESS
The lines in this belted dress are more sophisticated than your average shirt-dress. This item is ideal for the professional ladies who really want to turn it up a notch. Think: super sexy journalist, where in the world is Carmen SanDiego style. Also a great pick for photographers, aspiring models/actresses, real estate agents, or if you’re the big boss. Demand attention and respect. The classic Khaki color gives this look a more casual quality, and to counteract that and make it luxe we have gold metallic accents. Or if you’re going on a city-safari trip (either hunting for men, or snakeskin purses) this is a great piece to be seen about town in! Dress, .

PRINTED BELTED DRESS
Snake Charmer, throw some snake skin prints my way and you’ve instantly got my attention. The only thing is when donning a snakeskin print you have to work extra hard to make sure the outfit looks chic, not cheap. I would keep the accessories simple,as shown here in the picture. Either black leggings, or sheer black tights and very basic black heels work. I would keep the belt black also, the print should be the only item really making a statement. Dress, 0.

PLEATED DRESS
The pleats and navy give a nod to the school girl aesthetic. This can be your uniform to wear about town. Look put together and fabulous without a ton of effort. A dress that will be usable for many occasions, wear to work with a caridgan or wear about town and still feel very chic. The navy blue color is flattering on on all women, and the material is super comfortable and will not wear out easily on you. Simple, clean refined style in a dress that will stick by you through thick and thin will become a staple in your closet. Go without any earrings to keep it casual enough for the office. Dress, .

PRINTED DRESS
Africana Beauty. I like to get inspiration from all over the world, and although it is somewhat ironic this piece from Calvin Klein embodies the appeal that traditional African clothing brings. A bright bold color meets the harshness of black geometric lines and ends in a perfect symmetry a harmony of strength and beauty. Find your inner tranquility even at the office by looking stunning. This design is slightly vintage, and will surely have everyone wondering where you shop. Dress, .47.

PRINTED KNOTTED DRESS
Many reviewers complained about the exposed zipper on this dress. Did someone miss the trend alert on that one? An exposed zipper looks younger and hipper and really keeps this dress from being too dated. I really do love the print, but the print and cut can be a bit much if it didn’t have a fantastic detail like this. I would still style it extremely young with some shiny black pumps and a playful bracelet, and a white cardigan to bring it all down to earth. Dress on sale for .60

It is official summer is upon us. Some plus size clothing ahead womens sweet n’ sensible pieces from Avenue are just what you need to got through these nearly (and sometimes) 3 digit days. Stylish finds with affordable prices in plus size, all clothing provided for women of all shapes and sizes each of their items are available up to 32—so rejoice!

FAVORITE KNIT DRESS
A red hot sizzling look is perfect for this fourth of july. Forget the white and blue, red is all you need to shine on this patriotic day. An easy look just throw on some cute flip flops and head out the door. This casual look will leave you comfortable throughout the day from the bbq/picnic all the way to the fireworks! Dress, .90. However, if you wont take our word for it (nearly 99% of people look pretty fabulous in red, even those on the more voluptuous size, indeed plus figures and the color red should be considered friends—not enemies)

KNIT SUNDRESS
There is a dress of similar style available on the site in black, brown, or coral for .90.

BRAID TRIM DRESS
A great grey for everyday. Usually grey is one of those colors that although intriguing and a great neutral usually looks frumpy. When trying to work such uncommon color cut and styling elements are important to pay attention to. Grey, sometimes the color of sweats one has to stay away from fabric heavy items. Even a basic tee unless very fitted in this color will make wardrobe items drab. But this dress shows enough skin to keep it simply brilliant. One can layer on any color accessories as they wish. Since this shade is right in between light and dark, it can go well for a day or night look. Many women may not realize this, but although black might get some street cred for it’s slimming qualities, for some women it can wash them out. The braided details on this dress is a flirty and fashion forward accent that turns this dress into something delightful. Play up, or play down this dress as you wish at .90 you’ll be pleased with how much use you get out of it!

GEO HALTER DRESS
Ah the prints! Is your style a tad on the eclectic side? Bring a lot of your personality to your wardrobe with this dress. Styled in a retro manner this halter top has got what it takes to keep the girls in order without smashing or smooshing them. A thicker strapped halter just screams fun in the sun, ‘cuz it’s summertime. This off the wall print has shades of greens and purples in a geometric landscape. Nothing too crazy though, its kept cute, classy and ladylike. Dress, .90.

LEAF PRINT DRESS
A palm print is one of those unwritten summer essentials. Ethnic inspirations like these are a must buy. If you haven’t got a tribal print of any sort, this is your diamond in the rough. Though there may be many palm print dresses this one is the most adorable in all of its simplicity. Ever heard the saying less is more? Well this dress explemplifies it. A dark chocolate brown is a practical understated color, which helps this look stay clean—almost preppy. Reviews have given buyers a heads up though, you may want to order in a size down as this plus item runs large. The classic a-line skirt is also great for ladies who need a little help balancing their top half with their bottom half. Larger bottomed ladies, any of our other pick might do you better justice. Dress, .99.

Not quite flower power, these women’s plus size clothing pieces are fabulous casual dresses from Torrid. Torrid being the sister store of Hot Topic one would expect edgy, gothic, punky pieces. Though they do have more than their fair selection of those (as seen earlier this week, in case you missed it–black dresses). They’ve got some frilly girly pieces too.

FLORAL PRINT DRESS
In an array of soft hippiesque colors this floral tube dress is two parts vintage-retro, three parts sugar, spice, and everything nice. An unusual color blends is pulled off masterfully in this dress showcasing a lilac, orange, yellow, pink and red. The sweetheart bustline makes this feminine frock even cuter. For ladies who are ready to shine in the summertime. An open vest will take this look to the next level, adding an unexpected punch, like this one from Torrid in black. Dress, .

HAWAIIAN PRINT DRESS
The other piece was soft and airy, this still a floral takes us to the dark side. Like a garden shining in the moonlight this dark dress has fluorescent pops. Stun and wow because this Hawaiian print is sure to grab some attention. A simple leaf pattern is given some vibrance with neon coloring contrasting against the black background. This dress has a bubble shape which is one of my favorites because one feels more secure in a dress that doesn’t fly around at a whim’s notice while a breeze blows past. Similarly this dress has lines that accentuate shape and gives a subtle hourglass figure. Consider wearing some vintage tights with the backseam down the middle and some simple black pumps to really do this outfit justice. Dress, .
